It May Take More Than 2 – Motown Star Kim Weston Needs Our Help

Kim Weston got her big break with Motown Records in 1965 with the Holland- Dozier – Holland – written hit song “Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)”. That song went on to be recorded by a number of other artists – most notably the Doobie Brothers in 1975 – but including The Isley Brothers, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and – least notable – Jermaine Jackson. Weston’s biggest hit, however, was a duet she did with Marvin Gaye called “It Takes Two”.

We now learn that Ms. Weston has recently been released from a Detroit-area hospital and is recovering – alone and in less than opulent conditions. Like many Motown artists of the time, she was a bit short-changed on royalties and now could really use our help. Friends and family are trying to upgrade her living arrangement and get her into a senior facility more suitable for someone who has brought such joy with her music. A Go Fund Me account has been established and they are seeking small donations of just $5, $10, or $20.

We wish Ms. Weston all the very best and hope and pray that she is back on her feet very soon. In the meantime, please enjoy this video of Kim Weston back in her healthier days:
