AMUKA – Our Favorite P-Funk All Star – Drops New Song / Video: Don’t Fall For It

Born and raised in Detroit, Sheila Brody was discovered by The Godfather of Funk -George Clinton – while sitting on the front steps of United Sound Studios. She would become the lead singer of The Brides of Funkenstein and go on to record “NEVER BUY TEXAS FROM A COWBOY” – named one of the 50 coolest albums of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine in 2001. Since then she has worked with such musical dignitaries as John Mellencamp, Cindy Lauper, Don Was and Rick James, and recorded a number 1 Billboard hit “EVERYTHING” from the Pokemon’s 2. B. A. Master movie and television soundtrack.

Later in her career she would attain international stardom as a house music artist known as AMUKA. Under this moniker she recorded no less than 6 TOP TEN BILLBOARD HOT DANCE / CLUB MUSIC CHART hits, including “Appreciate Me” – a collaboration with electronica icon Peter Rauhofer, “I Want More” – a collaboration with Offernissum, and the 2014 track “Destination (We Are The Ones)” – a collaboration with Twisted Dee and Spyglass Edmund. Most recently she performed with Rap legends Public Enemy, where she sang on the “MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS” album– most notably on the Rolling Stones sample “HONKY TONK RULES”.
