The song was actually the B-side to “Having a Party” when Sam Cooke recorded it in 1962 and it quickly shot up to # 2 on Billboard’s R&B chart. Since then “Bring It On Home To Me” has been covered by everyone from John Lennon to Mickey Gilley to Bon Jovi. Aretha Franklin covered the song in her 1969 album “Soul ’69“. But prepare yourself for one of the best versions you’ll ever hear. Dave Edwards used to sing this song with The Rocket’s Dave Gilbert when playing together and it has always been his lovely wife, Dawn’s, favorite song that he sings – which is why he finally recorded it with his good friends Jimmie Bones on keyboard, Bob Monteleone on drums and Jorian Olk Szost on bass. Lou Rawls sings back up on Sam Cooke’s original version but Jimmies Bones does Lou proud here. The video was filmed and recorded at Motor City Josh’s studio.

Thanks, Dave – and Merry Christmas to you as well!
